Hand-Crafted Bronze Sussex Loop Ring – Bronze Age Inspired Jewellery

The Sussex loop ring, inspired by the Bronze Age Sussex Loop Bangle, is only found in West Sussex.

These are very popular and come handcrafted individually in bronze wire around 2mm in diameter, so approximately 3-4mm wide at the back. The loop is roughly 2cm across.

These rings are very comfortable on any finger (I wear one on my thumb day in, day out). Bronze is more likely to react with chemicals in skin than a precious metal, so please be aware that you may experience slight skin discolouration. This design is more authentic than my standard Sussex loop, with the ends looping over the loop rather than under, as my more modern take.

Please confirm a ring size, or the order may be cancelled. I cannot easily alter these, so they are treated as a custom order. Smaller ring sizes would be possible, but may need a smaller gauge wire. I can also make these in any precious metal and any finger size and gauge, so do please ask for a custom price if the standard ring isn't quite right for you or the person it is for.

 

Caring for Your Bronze Jewellery:

Bronze is a beautiful, living metal that naturally changes with wear. Over time it develops a deeper, richer patina, making each piece uniquely yours.

To keep your bronze jewellery looking its best:

Keep it dry and remove it before bathing, swimming or using cleaning products.

Avoid perfumes, creams and hairspray coming into direct contact with the metal.

After wearing, gently wipe the piece with a soft, dry cloth to remove oils and moisture.

Store it somewhere dry and preferably in an airtight bag or jewellery box when not being worn.

If you prefer a brighter finish, gently polish the bronze with a soft jewellery polishing cloth.

Bronze can naturally leave a temporary greenish or dark mark on some skin. This is a normal reaction between the metal, your skin and its natural oils, and is not harmful. The effect varies from person to person and can be more noticeable in warm or humid conditions.

Most importantly, don't worry about the patina! It is part of the character of bronze and, over time, your jewellery will develop its own unique appearance.
